"A man walking alone on a deserted beach, brandishing a lantern in his outstretched hand, might be a fool. But, for a ship that went astray on a stormy night, he might be the savior."
All the best of the holidays to you too, my friend. What are the Christmas traditions in Syria?? Is there much of a celebration? What a wonderful photo!! Did you take it??? If so you must tell me the trick to getting the log to burn like that? Ohhh...I'm just full of inquiries today!! :)

Thank you so much dear friend!! I didn't and still don't have much of ANY celebration this year ... no Eid, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year ... I did and will work on each single holiday ... a bummer, I know! What keeps me afloat and sane is the knowledge it is the LAST TIME ... after graduation I will get back to a NORMAL "schedule", no nightshifts ect. anymore for me - EVER!HAPPY SEASON GREETINGS to you and your loved ones!!!:-)
I really hope you can get back to normal very soon, Karin.¡Saludos desde Lima!

Merry Christmas to you too, Abu Fares!
Abufares, may gods bring us back all the rivers that were killed, le
My Dear IsobelOf course there are many nice and local traditions in addition to the usual ones. The Tartous Christmas parade toured the city yesterday. My kids attended but didn't want me with them. Instead, each went with his/her friends and enjoyed the festivities.I took the photo at my friend Majed's restaurant in the mountain. If it's wonderful it's because "3younek helween." lolll, OK, let me translate that. If you say something looks wonderful a gentleman like me should respond: "Your eyes are wonderful" meaning that they can only see beautiful things because they are so beautiful :-)Finally, and to answer your last inquiry, the log was hollow. I think it came from a sick or dead tree and you know... I put it over the amber and it started burning like this. Then I took this historic photo. How about that for an answer???Merry Christmas Isobel, always a pleasure to see you here.
@BILThank you for dropping by and I wish you and your loved ones ;-) the best of times, now and always.
